It’s been eight years since Microsoft launched the Xbox 360, a wildly successful gaming console that has gradually evolved into a home entertainment hub for many users. Today, the company finally got around to releasing details of the “Durango” project, its code name for the next generation of the Xbox. “For the first time, you and your TV are going to have a relationship,” Microsoft declared in the opening of its announcement on Tuesday. Promising an “all in one system,” Microsoft finally unveiled the Xbox One, a black box with a single slot for inserting a disc. There is a glowing Xbox logo, but no Red Ring of Death that we could see. The new Kinect motion and voice-control sensor is also larger than the existing version. But it shoots in 1080p, with motion detection capabilities and more conversational voice-recognition. Microsoft claims the Kinect can detect your heartbeat while you work out. It is separate from the console, which only makes sense as having them integrated would require you positioning the console in front of your TV. Though they are separated physically, the Kinect will come with all Xbox One consoles. The controller for the Xbox One is mercifully almost identical to the ones users have mashed for almost a decade. However, the company says there have been more than 40 tweaks to the controller, including “dynamic impulse triggers” that provide feedback right in the triggers themselves. The new Kinect can also identify the controller as something separate from the player, allowing it to be detected and tracked. Via Kinect, the user can use gestures and voice to not only control the Xbox One, but also other connected devices like a TV. You can also launch Internet Explorer right onto your TV. No more switching of inputs — or at least that’s what Microsoft is claiming. The Xbox One guide will supposedly have your channel listing and programming information right there on the screen for you, allowing you to jump seamlessly — and quickly, per the demo — from channel to channel without ever leaving the Xbox The integration of Windows Snap Mode into the Xbox interface allows users to multitask. You can watch a movie in one window while browsing the web off to the side. You can have Skype call without interrupting what is going on elsewhere on the screen. The notion is that you no longer need to use your computer, phone, or tablet as a supplementary screen; you can have it all right there on your TV. “The one place where you are at the center of your entertainment,” says Microsoft. “This is the beginning of truly intelligent TV.” Video game giant, and reigning Worst Company In America champ, Electronic Arts was on hand for the announcement, saying it will have four of its big sports titles — Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live, and UFC — coming out for the Xbox One within the next 12 months. Weird Indiana State Fair Foods

A tasting panel has named spaghetti and meatballs ice cream as the signature food of the Indiana State Fair.

The dish, produced by Monroe Concessions, outcompeted such contenders as micro beer cheese sauce from Barto’s Catering and Hoosier caramel corn sundae from Baskin-Robbins to take the honor for this year’s fair, which runs Aug. 3-19.

The creation, which contains no actual meat, is made with gelato noodles, strawberry tomato sauce, shredded white chocolate cheese and chocolate meatballs.

As always, longtime concessionaires Dennis and Cheryl Reas are bringing new concoctions to the fair.

One is a raspberry doughnut chicken burger — a deep-fried chicken breast sandwiched between two raspberry-jelly-filled doughnuts.

The other?

A bacon peanut butter banana burger.

“We kind of call it ‘the Elvis,’ ” Reas said.

Though this photo may look like a prom picture on Facebook that's been blingee'd, it's actually the very first photo that was ever uploaded to the web. The history of the picture—in all its random glory and woeful photoshopping—is amazing.

Motherboard actually tracked the photo's origin down and found out that the lovely ladies in the photo were part of a musical group called Les Horrible Cernettes, a comedy band based at the CERN laboratory in Geneva which was comprised of admin assistants and significant others of CERN scientists. The photo was tweaked in version one of Photoshop on a color Mac and saved as a .gif before being uploaded by Tim Berners-Lee, one of the inventors of the Internet... and a crossdresser. Somewhere out there, a person who covets and collects quirky representations of U.S. presidents must exist. Otherwise, we can't think of a reason why anyone would shell out $8,100 for a chicken McNugget shaped like America's first commander-in-chief, George Washington.

The bit of McDonald's meat was auctioned off on eBay on Monday, by a woman in Dakota City who said she noticed it while cleaning up her kids' meals, reports the Sioux City Journal. The nugget stayed in her freezer for around three years.

"Sometimes it's OK if children don't finish," she told the paper. She didn't reveal where the winning bidder lives, but did say the site received 44,795 views, and 1,610 people were actively watching the auction.

The woman adds that she'll use the money to help send 50 children from Sioux City Family Worship Center to a summer camp in Dayton, Iowa.

A doctor and Guinness World Records official measured Chandra Bahadur Dangi to confirm his height of 21.5 inches (54.6 centimeters). Guinness official Craig Glenday presented Dangi with two certificates for being the world's shortest living man and the world's shortest person recorded in Guinness' 57-year history. "I am very happy. Now I want to travel across Nepal and to foreign countries," Dangi told reporters afterward. The toilet lessons, given on a poster on the backs of cubicle doors at Macquarie University, come after opposition citizenship spokeswoman Teresa Gambaro said migrants should be taught to use deodorant and wait in line, The Daily Telegraph reported. Posters put up by the university show a person standing on the toilet seat and squatting over the bowl with a line through it. Another crossed-out image shows a person squatting on the floor. Students are taught how to use sanitary bins, how to flush the toilet and wash their hands in other parts of the diagram under the heading: Protecting each other, use of female toilets. While we've known about the casting of the Stooges in question for a while now -- Chris Diamantopoulos is Moe, Sean Hayes is Larry, and Will Sasso is Curly -- we haven't gotten a clear look at the trio yet. 		Well, they certainly look the part. But, do audiences really want to see the Three Stooges on the big screen in 2012? I'm torn on it myself. This weekend, I ventured off to Columbus, Ohio for the official launch of Mid-Ohio Comic Con! A gathering of geeks that are proud to be checked in on comic book, video game, movie, anime and pro wrestling culture.

Celebrities in attendance included Adam West & Burt Ward (Batman and Robin), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian from Star Wars), James Marsters ("Spike" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Claudia Christian (Babylon 5.)

Oh, and myself, of course. They didn't provide me a booth though. Setting up by the restrooms was just awkward..

I'm not really sure who thought of this, but frankly, I don't care. This might be one of the best things I've ever seen in my life.

It involved drawing one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or related character, like Shredder or Splinter) on a celebrity's nose, and posting it on the internet. Completely dumb, but still completely awesome.
